Wow, I didn’t write for a while, ehh?

The reason for this is college. We started life drawings and it’s taking quite an amount out of my free time to practice and understand new techniques. Not that I get it anyway at the moment.  -.-

Anyway, few days ago I came across this new anime that aired at the beginning of April. Right now it has only 4 episodes but both the anime and original manga are looking great.

Haikyuu!!, because that’s it title is starting with Shōyō Hinata, a Junior High School student (main character) that creates a volleyball club and begins practicing by himself. Eventually five other members join the team (that don’t know much about the sport) by his last year and enter a volleyball tournament. However they are defeated after being challenged by the championship favorite team, which includes the so-called “King of the Court” Tobio Kageyama, in the first round. At the end of the first episode we find Hinata enrolled at Karasuno High School. There he joined the volleyball club and in consequence he meets the ”King of the Court”, who also started his first year at Karasuno High.

The original manga was created by Haruichi Furadate as a shonen one-shot. The series began in February 2012 and in May 2013 it already sold two million copies (Japan and France, the only English scans and translations are online).

Just after watching that first episode I started to read manga.

It is one of the fewer manga that focus on volleyball and portrays it as it is without adding much of super, amazing and impossible in reality spikes and tosses, like The Prince of Tennis or Kuroko no Basket (tennis and basketball manga). I enjoyed the artwork of Furadate, as it’s very energetic and still quite calm. Both manga and anime are also funny what is a big plus. 😀

Hmmmm, I guess I should practice some more of this life drawing measurement technique. Dewa mata!
